3 Bricks Global Access programs support young adults who are neurodivergent or have psycho-social disabilities to access the world while building life skills and social connections in a group setting with scaffolded support from experienced knowledgeable staff.

This program may be physically or emotionally challenging for some, with moderate flight times from Australia and opportunities to learn to rock climb, in Krabi and gain certification as a PADI open-water SCUBA diver over 5 days. We aim to provide access to life-changing respite programs in a dignified, supported environment to build life skills such as improving relationships, developing independence in daily life, learning new skills, improving overall health and wellbeing, increasing confidence in daily money management, making new friends, and building confidence for future solo travel.

NDIS participants may be able to fund some or all of their trip through their NDIS fund. A 10% self-funded deposit is required to hold your position in the program, which will be refunded to you at the end of the program. Participants must also purchase mandatory travel insurance.

    Who: For individuals looking for supported small-group travel opportunities to build independence, confidence, and lasting relationships with like-minded travelers.

    Where: Staff will be departing from Melbourne but you can fly in from anywhere to meet us in Phuket if you are comfortable flying solo

    When: November 4-17, 2023

    Physical ability: You should be able to complete short day-hikes, and endure hot weather. Optional diving and rock climbing adventures are available.

    WHAT TO PACK: All clothes, personal care items and medications for 14 days. Maximum 1 larger suitcase and smaller hiking pack per person.

    This is a multi-homebase adventure covering Phuket, Krabi and Koh Lanta

    Three Nights: In a 3-star hotel located in Phuket.
    Six nights:
    in a 3-star hotel located in the Diving haven of Koh Lanta

    Four nights: In a 3-star hotel in the famous rock-climbing region of Krabi.

    Staffing: Depending on group size, this trip will be staffed by Ben as well as others from our international team - read more about them on our staff profile page!

    WHAT'S INCLUDED: Twin-shared accommodation, all main meals, drinking water, qualified experienced staff, entry to all tourist sites, activities (including PADI open water diver certified course, cooking course other daily activities) and all in-country transportation.

    WHAT’S EXCLUDED: The price does not include alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, travel insurance and international flights.

VISAS & VACCINATIONS

You are responsible for your own visa and vaccination arrangements. Please check your passport issuing country’s guidelines.

Passport: Required for all foreigners with a minimum of 6 months and 2 blank pages remaining.

Visa: Tourists don't need a visa. You can get a permit to stay for up to 30 days when you arrive. If you overstay your permit, you'll have to pay a fine before leaving the country. Entry and exit conditions can change at short notice. You should contact the nearest embassy or consulate of Thailand for the latest details.

Vaccinations: Though we recommend it, proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID test is not required to enter Thailand.

WHAT TO PACK

Expect warm tropical weather, lots of beach time and short, heavy tropical rains - be sure to bring comfortable clothes.

We will provide you with a full packing list.

MEALS

All meals are included while on the program. You will enjoy traditional Thai breakfasts, lunches, and dinners at hidden restaurants, beach bars, and quirky oases.


INTERNET

All accommodation spaces have complimentary wifi, cellphone reception can be sporadic during parts of the trip. We encourage the opportunity to disconnect during the trip.

Thailand

The currency in Thailand is the Thai Baht (THB). Cards are readily taken in cities and tourist areas, however in more remote areas cash is king you can withdraw on the first day from Phuket, or we can help you exchange from AUD.

Time Zone: GMT+7

The climate of Thailand is tropical. We will be traveling in November, at the end of wet season but, expect short heavy rains regardless. Temperatures in November average around 27c daily.

The sun during the day can be quite warm and sunburn is common. Australian Sunscreen, Long-sleeved light clothing is a good idea and a jacket for the rain.

YOUR ITINERARY

  • Departing either as a group from Melbourne or meeting in at the airport in Phuket, Thailand. We meet, greet and set goals and intentions for our next 2 weeks together.

  • Start your leisurely day in Phuket exploring in small groups, where you can soak up the sun, swim in the turquoise waters, and indulge in beachside massages. In the afternoon, explore the vibrant Old Town, filled with colorful Sino-Portuguese buildings, quaint cafes, and local shops before a cocktail or juice on the beach.

  • Take a day tour from Phuket to Koh Phi Phi (where the film ‘The Beach’ was made), where we can spend the morning swimming in the crystal-clear waters, snorkeling around vibrant coral reefs, and basking in the sun on stunning Maya Bay. In the afternoon, hop back on the boat to return to Phuket, enjoying scenic views of the Andaman Sea and capturing memorable photos of the limestone cliffs.

  • After a slow breakfast, we jump on a ferry to the peaceful Koh Lanta island, enjoy the travel watching flying-fish skip ahead of the boat, or enjoy a cocktail before arriving to relax by the pool or on the beach.

  • Meet with your diving instructor and fellow divers for an orientation session and course overview. Spend the evening exploring the local area, trying out authentic Thai cuisine at a nearby restaurant and enjoying a relaxing stroll along the beach.

  • Begin your open water SCUBA course with theory lessons and pool training sessions to familiarize yourself with the equipment and essential skills. In the evening, unwind by joining a sunset yoga session on the beach, followed by a group dinner at a beachfront restaurant.

  • Embark on your first open-water dives in the pristine waters surrounding Koh Lanta. Explore vibrant coral reefs and encounter diverse marine life while practicing the skills learned during your training. After a day of diving, unwind with a beach bonfire, where you can share stories and experiences with your fellow divers. Non-divers can snorkel, relax on the beach, have a massage or whatever you like, staff will support you to set it up.

  • Continue your open water dives, visiting different dive sites around Koh Lanta to further enhance your skills and discover more underwater wonders. In the evening, join a night dive for a unique and thrilling experience, followed by a celebratory dinner at a local seafood restaurant.

  • Conclude your open water SCUBA course with the final dives and assessments. Once certified, celebrate your achievement with a boat trip to nearby Koh Rok or Koh Haa, where you can enjoy snorkeling, swimming, and relaxing on pristine beaches. In the evening, gather for a farewell party, sharing memories and exchanging contact information with your newfound dive buddies.

  • Travel by private minivan to Krabi where we will settle in to enjoy another patch of paradise.

  • Continue your exploration with a visit to local temples and panoramic viewpoints overlooking Krabi. Conclude your day with some souvenir shopping at the Krabi Night Market, where you can find local handicrafts, clothing, and delicious street food.

  • Take a lesson of rock climbing with professional teachers on the stunning cliffs or if you prefer a slower pace, take a walk around the island, get a massage, enjoy a cocktail - Whatever you like.

  • Our last day in Phuket means celebration dinner, and last minute gift shopping, and a day of reminiscing. Work on that tan.

  • Today is airport drop-off day (staff members may accompany you for flights if coordinated ahead of time).
